A three hour face-to-face training opportunity for General Practitioners and Registrars working in Coordinare (South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network).

This workshop will look closely at:

  • Withdrawal Management Principles & Case Planning
  • Withdrawal for alcohol and other drugs/ pharmacotherapy
  • Post withdrawal/detox strategies
  • Case studies

Addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition which is difficult to treat. GPs and other primary care professionals have a key role to play in prevention, early detection and management of substance misuse and dependence.

The training opportunity aims to provide GPs with the skills to confidently identify problematic use by using appropriate screening tool, formulate early detection strategies, apply safe drinking guidelines and apply alcohol withdrawal principles.
